Collections Postcards (Pack of 12)
These wallets each contain twelve postcards illustrating the breadth of the College’s collections, including manuscripts, books, vestments, prints, silver, ethnography, stained glass and paintings. Stonyhurst College has the oldest museum collection in the English-speaking world, dating back to 1609. The Collections come from all over the world, reflecting the fact that the College has long been a global community.
Stonyhurst was originally founded in 1593 at St Omers in the Spanish Netherlands as a school in exile for English Catholic boys. It moved to its present location in Lancashire in 1794 to escape the French Revolution, and is now a vibrant co-educational boarding and day school in the Jesuit tradition. The Museum, Archives & Historic Libraries play an important role in the educational life of the pupils and the wider community.
